It was supposed to be a thriller, so I doggedly listened, waiting for the big reveal and the plot twists, but they never happened. It was more chick lit than thriller, and if it were so labeled, I wouldn't have gone near it. The waste of time made me so angry that I immediately returned it. I've listened to a lot of books that I thought were just dumb or mediocre, but they didn't make me feel like I was hoodwinked the way One Step Too Far did, so I never considered returning them. 11-24-2015, 09:44 PM # 9 o saeclum infacetum Posts: 16, 140 Karma: 184246904 Location: New England Device: H2O, GloHD, Aura One I've only returned one. I wanted a comfort listen when I had an eye issue and couldn't read, so I got The Prisoner of Zenda. But Bernard Mayes's querulous old-man voice was all wrong for Rudolf Rassendyll, so back it went. I only owned it for about 15 minutes, so I figured that was proof of no shenanigans. I ended up listening to the Librivox version, which was far better. 11-24-2015, 10:34 PM # 10 You kids get off my lawn!
I don't return often, and 2 in one day is definitely not the norm for me. I am glad I was able to return it. Maybe I'll watch the movie, sometime. (The Andromeda Strain). I just couldn't get into the audio book. 11-24-2015, 04:20 PM # 5 I've returned 3 in one day so something may have changed recently. 11-24-2015, 05:06 PM # 6 monkey on the fringe Posts: 41, 683 Karma: 153116320 Join Date: May 2010 Location: Seattle Metro Device: Kin 7th; Fire7 9th; Show 5; Moto E6; ClipZip Originally Posted by booklover6 The movie was suspenseful for its day (1971). The only book I ever returned to Audible was One Step Too Far.
