Nitnem Santhiya Bhagat Jaswant Singh (Charan Singh Bhagat Jee) got blessed by Guru Sahib to record katha of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Jee, Bhai Gurdaas Jee Vaaran and Kabit and Sooraj Parkash by Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Jee over a time period of 7 years. After the recordings were complete, as per the wish of Baba Gurbachan Singh Jee, the cassettes were all given to Sant Kartar Singh Jee Khalsa. Listen Now
The argument that Sikhs are just another type of Hindus (namely by the Hindutva crowd, that say we are simply Kesadhari Hindus) comes up a fair amount in discussions and is something that is hard to refute, owing to the loose definitions surrounding Hinduism. However, Sikhi is ultimately past Hinduism and is its own dharam, which is recognised by both the Gurus, the early Sikh viewpoint, and especially the modern Sikh viewpoint. I wanted to start a thread where we can all post some texts that explicitly states we are a separate Panth. I have three excerpts below, but I would absolutely love if we can post in the comments more texts, more sources, and certainly angs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and Dasam Granth that put forth the idea of Sikh sovereignty. I'll start off with these: Bhai Gurdas ji's Vaaran ਮਾਰਿਆ ਸਿਕਾ ਜਗਤ੍ਰਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪੰਥ ਚਲਾਇਆ। In the world, he established the authority (of his doctrines) and started a religion, devoid of any impurity (niramal panth). So even Bhai Gurdas ji, the original recorder of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, the first Jathedar of the Akal Takht, the man who was adopted by Guru Amar Das ji and lived up to Guru Hargobind ji's time, saw Sikhi as its own "panth", the exact word he uses.
When debating, it's important to know your sources and to understand them - hopefully this thread can get a whole array of sources and texts that can help us in the future, and help understand the relation between Sikhi and Hinduism.
